The latest news on this front comes from a really interesting article that has an amazing interactive breakdown of the political scene in India and comes from the BBC. Take a look at this excerpt:
Modi now faces another crucial general election. In some ways, it will be a referendum on Modi. Many believe he wants to fashion India in his image – forcefully nationalist, socially conservative, openly patriotic.
For nearly 40 days in April and May, some 900 million people will be eligible to vote in 543 parliamentary seats in a marathon staggered election. It’s going to be the biggest, longest and possibly most expensive ballot ever. One of India’s leading public intellectuals, Pratap Bhanu Mehta, says it is going to be a “high stakes election with very low expectations”.
Will this election, as some have said, be “a battle for the soul of India”?
