Celebrating the Vast Wealth of America's Richest

Let’s take the mask off the monster. We don’t trust or admire capitalism anymore. We just celebrate rich people’s wealth instead. Whether we have any or not, that’s what Americans are encouraged to do in this so called Christian Nation. We love money and as the tide is going, the nation’s vast wealth will never be shared with the people.

Corporate greed has sold us out and created a monster in Asia called China, communism for the entrepreneur as they call it. Corporate America won’t be able to compete with China because of their unlimited capitalistic avarice but we rest assured our military will take care of us. Sorry to sound cynical but it’s the way it is! Until we start to look at life from a perspective of truth, we will continue to lie to ourselves and live in a delusional world that never goes right or makes sense.

To fix the situation, all the right wing hate radio lies about capitalism have to go. They don’t work never have never will! Today, the right wing media work unabashedly for the cheat, the scoundrel and the swindler but not the average Joe.If we had a system that paid people a living wage, we wouldn’t have a need for the government that gives so much aid to working class people. Pay people what their worth and not what you can get away with. We are now learning how much patience the American people for how long the system can sustain itself with unlimited abuse.

We need to quit celebrating other people’s fortunes and seek to establish a democracy again! When you have a democracy, you have an equal say, equal input, and equal decision-making powers. One person one vote is the opposite of the currently ascendent “money is free speech” concept.

We should celebrate successful people and not the money they make. We can celebrate their character, intellect and compassion when they show it, instead of the money they hoard. America has come to celebrate the wrong things and it has taken a harsh toll.

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.

I agree completely. The pervasive corruption of money politics is more a factor here than in other countries and more an American problem than a problem with capitalism. Dozens of countries are capitalist and yet aren’t so damn corrupted: Japan and West Europe particularly, also Australia and NZ – ALL of them way more secular than us. One can point to the kind of problems we have and in so many cases ascribe it to magical religious thinking, moribund religious “ethics” and the votes of millions hoodwinked by con games and grifters using bronze age fairy tales in their favor.

Its a long story, but I think religion is a major part of our problem. Part of my reasoning here –

    Keep up the good work/writing/reporting.
