Dangerous Republican Strategy to Manipulate Voting

A recent New York Times articles has a title, “Inside the Republican Strategy to Discredit the Florida Recount” that hints at the truth about the Republican Party. It is their strategy to disrupt an election, not to actually find out what the real count is.

The Republican Party has given up on attempting to win by legitimate means, and has instead thrown all their attempts and efforts to win at any and all costs.

Even the president basically admitted it at his 60 Minutes interview that winning is the only thing that matters.

The party has lost all credibility in their challenges to the fairness of the voting system because they have had every opportunity to fix it.

We the people need to make our ballot system secret and sacrosanct again. Vote counts must be beyond reproach and we must make them as immune as possible against party shenanigans and malfeasance.

One method in that direction is supporting ranked choice voting. Voters everywhere in the United States should take a close look at Maine, and how we are attempting to solve the problem of partisan malfeasance in our election system. Instant Runoff/Ranked Choice voting will benefit all voters and all parties. It’s time to act.

About M D Mitchell

M D Mitchell, known by his friends as "Mitch", was born in 1967 and today lives by the ocean in the state of Maine. He served in the Maine Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer, retiring at the rank of Major, and served two tours of duty in Iraq, as well as humanitarian work in Guatemala. He was also a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State, serving in Washington D.C., Brazil, and Guyana. Prior to that, he was the Director of Education at the Wolfe's Neck Farm Foundation, in Freeport, Maine. Mitch was also a classroom teacher who taught U.S. History, and English to speakers of other languages in Maine and Japan. He is passionate about remaining true to the founding ideals of America, the ones written on paper about a "more perfect union", although, sadly, not always as practiced in reality.

Good article. The Repub’s (at times admitted) practice of active disenfranchisement is so disgraceful. If I ever met any (we have bridges and tunnels in Manhattan to keep them and their red MAGA hats out!) I’d ask them why that fact alone isn’t a deal breaker.
    thx
