Rashida Tlaib has broken all kinds of barriers after winning a primary and then general election to become the first Muslim Palestinian-American politician to make it into the House of Representatives for Michigan’s 13th District in 2008.  In the video below, Tlaib talks with Amy Goodman at the leftist independent new source Democracy Now about what she aims at achieving.

Tlaib is a Democratic Socialist who supports the Palestinian right of return and a one-state solution, Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage and abolishing ICE. The child of immigrants, she has spoken out against the Trump administration’s travel bans. We speak with Rashida Tlaib about her historic victory and her plans for Congress.
