Voter ID Law in Pennsylvania: Anti-Voting Legislation Strikes at the Heart of the Pennsylvanian

Pennsylvania’s Senate, in a 26-23 vote, just passed a restrictive voter ID bill, one of the first such laws to pass in 2012. Take a look:
“This law will disenfranchise Pennsylvania voters, plain and simple,” said Keesha Gaskins, senior counsel at the Brennan Center. “A wave of restrictive voting laws passed last year, which could make it significantly harder for up to 5 million eligible Americans to vote. Rather than erecting barriers between eligible American citizens and their right to vote, we should be opening pathways to a modern voting system. We will continue our fight to ensure that every eligible American citizen can vote.”
