Turnout in 17 of 52 precincts under 5%

By Robert Connelly for the Register-Mail, an “American daily newspaper published in Galesburg, Illinois”:

According to unofficial results from Tuesday night’s consolidated election, 5 of the 10 precincts that were under 5 percent voter turnout in the city saw fewer than 20 voters cast ballots.

Of the seven Knox County precincts with less than 5 percent turnout, six had fewer than 20 votes. Knoxville Alderman Dan Eiker, the lone Knoxville council member on the ballot as three seats did not have a candidate Tuesday, received all eight of the ballots cast in Knox Fourth, which was the lowest number of votes cast in one precinct for county and city voters.

Truro Township had the highest turnout with 32 percent of voters, 185 of 578 registered, for Williamsfield District 210 School Board. The next highest precinct, Knox Fifth, had 27.43 percent turnout, or 172 of 627 registered voters, in the East Galesburg village trustees and mayor races.
