“Melanie” who was in the “pen” at 56th and 5th on Saturday, November 19th told me why she was there. She had a conversation with a passerby about Senator Jeff Sessions. The passerby praised Sessions for doing his job by prosecuting the head of the Alabama Klan for murdering a 15 year old black boy. “Melanie told the white male passerby, “Just because you do your job prosecuting someone for murder doesn’t mean he’s not racist. This is a man who, in the Reagan White House, was rejected by a Republican Congress for being too racist. He was a up for a Federal seat on the bench and he was rejected because in 1986, under the Reagan Administration he was too racists. This is someone who called a white civil rights lawyer a disgrace to his race. He’s someone who regularly calls black people ‘boy.'”
“Melanie” also told me that a non partisan group did a fact check for the Presidential candidates and they found that TRUMP TELLS THE TRUTH 8% OF THE TIME and the rest of the time he’s partly lying, kind of close to the truth but, most of the time it was completely false”. From the Facebook event page for the anti-Trump protest:
It is no secret that Donald Trump is a known Bigot, Islamophob, Sexist, Misogynist and Idiot. The other day he added a known Racist and Anti Semitic Steve Bannon to his cabinet. These two along with this system are threats to our everyday lives.
If your eyes were not open before, they need to be opened now. No more sitting complacent on the sidelines. Come out and Bring all your friends and your family out to take to the streets and inconvenience those who support Trump and Bannon. But also, show the World that New York DOES NOT Support these two. Run them out of Office. SHUT THEM DOWN!!
Reminder: Do Not Silence The Voices and Actions of People of Color during these Actions. Lift your Voices with Them and Act Out With Them. Oppression and Racism Did Not Just Come into Existence during the Election, it’s been around for centuries and it needs to be Stopped NOW!! You may be tired of hearing about it, buy remember that People of Color have been Living It Everyday of their Lives.
