The Left has been determined to label anyone who holds conservative values to automatically qualify as a racist, sexist, bigoted homophobe, among many other negative traits. This holds true especially with white voters, and the reaction by the media to Donald Trump winning the presidency this past November is a perfect example.

Without citing any evidence, something they are prone to do, the Left immediately referred to Donald Trump’s victory as acts of racism and sexism on behalf of ‘White America.’ After realizing the inevitable was upon him, CNN’s Van Jones wasted no time on Election Night lashing out at Trump voters.

“It’s hard to be a parent tonight for a lot of us. You tell your kids, “Don’t be a bully.” You tell your kids, “Don’t be a bigot.” You tell your kids, “Do your homework and be prepared.” And then you have this outcome, and you have people putting children to bed tonight and they’re afraid of breakfast. They’re afraid of “How do I explain this to my children,?”” he stated live on CNN.

Jones then continued, claiming “This was a white lash. This was a white lash against a changing country. It was a white lash against a black president in part.”

No wonder the American public’s trust in the media has been on the decline recently. According to a 2016 Gallup poll, only 32% of Americans say they have a ‘great deal or fair amount of trust in the media.’ It is the absurd claims spread by people like Van Jones that causes this sharp decline. The immediate reaction before the race was even called for Donald Trump was to assume that white people were voting for Trump not only to combat a changing nation, but to combat Barack Obama, our first black president.

Let us look at three Midwest states that flipped from blue to red between the 2012 Election and the 2016 Election.
The first state is Wisconsin, which Barack Obama won in 2012. Along with claiming the 10 electoral votes that Wisconsin carries, Obama won 48% of the white vote. Fast forward to 2016, and Hillary Clinton won only 42% of that same demographic, while losing the state to Donald Trump.

Next is Michigan, another state won by Barack Obama in 2012. That year, Obama won 44% of the white vote as he defeated Mitt Romney to claim state’s 16 electoral votes. Hillary Clinton performed significantly worse than Barack Obama among white voters, winning only 36% of the vote in her defeat to Donald Trump in the state of Michigan.

The final state is Iowa. In 2012, Barack Obama claimed Iowa’s 6 electoral votes while winning a majority (51%) of the white vote within the state. On the contrary, Hillary Clinton lost the state of Iowa to Donald Trump in 2016, winning only 40% of the white vote. The color flip with these three states between 2012 and 2016 accounted for a 32 electoral vote swing in favor of Republicans.

This was not a ‘white lash’ among voters. Many of the same people who voted for Barack Obama in 2012 in the three aforementioned states voted for Donald Trump in 2016. But Van Jones was not calling Obama’s victories in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, or the general election as a whole a ‘white lash.’

But, of course, that would not fit the Leftist narrative which aims to label conservatives as horrible people based on who they vote for.

I am a conservative, and I would not have voted for Donald Trump in this past election. I would have left the top of my ticket blank if I were able to vote. Donald Trump did not meet my requirements to be President of the United States. That being said, to consider Trump voters acting in a ‘white lash’ against both the country and Barack Obama is both ignorant, and quite frankly, bigoted in itself.

How about the tolerance of Ana Kasparian at The Young Turks? On Election Night, Kasparian said this about women who voted for Donald Trump:

“I have no respect for women who voted for Trump. I think so poorly of them and the reason why is because I don’t think you’re a single issue voter, I just think you’re dumb. Okay, I think you’re f***ing dumb.”

This once again proves that the notion the Left gives off of being the ‘party of tolerance’ only applies to people who agree with them. The irony from the Kasparian rant is that she goes on about the amount of disrespect Donald Trump has towards women while at the same time openly disrespecting women who voted differently than her.

What the Left fails to realize is that the reason Donald Trump won the 2016 Election is because of comments made from people like Van Jones and Ana Kasparian.

Trump had no business winning this previous election, but he represented a giant middle finger to members of the media who considered white people who hold conservative views to either be participating in a ‘white lash’ or to just be flat out ‘f***ing dumb.’

These tactics of fear and intimidation by the Left also point out the stupidity of themselves. They are somehow unable to understand that the reason they lost the 2016 Election and the reason American trust in the media has drastically declined is because of how they see conservatives.

You can only call an entire demographic of the country racist, sexist, bigoted homophobes for so long. Eventually, a figure like Donald Trump comes along and tells these people, “No, you’re not any of those things. The media are a bunch of liars.” And he is not wrong in saying that. As a result, a large movement rises up against the very same people placing labels on them.

And voilà! Donald Trump becomes President of the United States.

If the Left wants to win future elections, they should avoid singling out certain voters and regions of the country as spiteful. Until then, comments from figures like Van Jones and Ana Kasparian make for a strong campaign ad for Donald Trump’s re-election in 2020.
