Brazil Supreme Court gets first black president
Joaquim Barbosa, the tough judge overseeing Brazil’s corruption trial of associates of ex-president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was officially nominated Wednesday to become the first black president of Brazil’s Supreme Court. In a plenary session, the court’s 10 justices picked the 58-year-old Barbosa.
