The fifth annual TEDxToronto conference took place on September 26, 2013 at The Royal Conservatory of Music.
For our 2013 TEDxToronto Conference, all talks, performances and demos were rooted in our selected theme, “The Choices We Make.”
About the Speaker:
Born in 1989, Ti-Anna was named to commemorate the victims of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Soon after her 13th birthday, her father, Wang Bingzhang, a veteran democracy activist, was arrested and sentenced to life in prison in China for his role in political activism. Since then, she has spent much of her time and energy working for his freedom. This journey has taken her around the world in a process of discovery of the ideals her name embodies. She graduated McGill in East Asian Studies and recently spent a year studying Mandarin in Taipei.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
