Springfield city councilors resurrect proposed 4-year term for councilors; could go to voters on fall ballot

SPRINGFIELD — A proposal to change the City Council term from two years to four years is back on the table, with proponents saying it makes sense to match the council with the mayor’s four-year-term in office and would save money. As proposed, voters would be asked this fall, in a binding ballot.
