Congo-Brazzaville is another example of Africa’s problem with third termism (seeking more terms than constitutionally mandated or seeking more than three terms in office). A referendum in 2015 enabled Denis Sassou Nguesso to run for a fourth consecutive term and the outcome of the presidential election is rather pre-determined. Antonio Cascais had this interesting development in Congo-Brazzaville in Deutsche Welle:

On March 21, the president of the Republic of Congo will face off against six opponents in the run for another term.
“Sassou Nguesso has been in office for 37 years now, and he will hold on to power, by force if necessary,” Sadio Kante-Morel told DW.
