It was not so long ago that voting in the United States was based on gender. It was only 45 years ago that voting it was based on race. In 1965, the civil rights voting act was passed, and especally in the Southern states of the U.S. voters of all races. THE SUPREME COURT struck down an unusually large number of statutes this term. Just this week, the court nullified Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), both federal laws. But the Supreme Court ruling on Voting Rights Act could help N.J. get sports betting. Kelly Lawler, @klawls this week said Supreme Court ruling striking down part of the Voting Rights Act could impact whether New Jersey can allow sports betting. That would only happen if a federal appeals court can be convinced.
