In the months leading up to his arrest for suspected forgery and tax crimes, Slovak entrepreneur Marian Kocner sent associates a string of text messages about police investigations and court cases focused on his property and media businesses, Miroslava Germanova writes for Balkan Insight:
Slovaks know only too well how Kocner was notorious for alleged ties to organised crime and would later be charged with ordering the murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak, who had been probing his business dealings. According to leaked texts from his phone published recently by local media, Kocner discussed “managing” his legal troubles through contacts in the police and prosecution. Other texts refer to “advising” government politicians.
