Arab Spring – April Massive Protests in Syria, Bahrain and Jordan as Arab World Rocked by Turmoil | Democracy, elections and voting at Democracy Chronicles

Thousands demonstrate in Syria as violence rages

AFP

Tens of thousands of Syrian protesters took to the streets on Friday under fire from regime forces, who pressed their campaign to pound rebel cities into submission, activists said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 35 people were killed, including 11 in the flashpoint central province.

Bahrain opposition rallies for hunger striker

Hundreds of people demonstrated in Bahrain on Friday for the release of a jailed activist who has been on hunger strike for almost two months. Two demonstrations — in Jidhafs district of Manama and in the village of Aali — urged the release of rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, witnesses told AFP.

Jordan demonstrators want jailed activists free

Nearly 1,500 Jordanians demonstrated on Friday across the country to demand the release of 19 detained political activists charged with insulting the king, and also calling for reforms. In the capital Amman, more than 400 Islamists and trade unionists held a sit-in near the University of Jordan.
