There was an interesting new post at Democracy Digest on an important event reflecting on journalism one year after the murder of emblematic journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder on October 2, 2019, the Project on Middle East Democracy and 12 other human rights and press freedom organizations host a public event on Capitol Hill to commemorate Jamal’s life, to call for accountability, and to cast a light on the Saudi government’s repression of those who are perceived to be critical of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and his regime.
Event co-sponsors include:
Americans for Human Rights & Democracy in Bahrain
Amnesty International
Article 19
Committee to Protect Journalists
Freedom House
The Freedom Initiative
Human Rights First
Human Rights Watch
James W. Foley Legacy Foundation
PEN America
Project on Middle East Democracy
