Stop Corruption – IACA’s First Assembly of Parties to Take Place in Vienna
Democracy, elections and voting at Democracy Chronicles
LAXENBURG, Austria- States representatives and experts from all around the globe will come together for the International Anti-Corruption Academy’s (IACA) first Assembly of Parties in Vienna, Austria on 29 and 30 November. The adoption of a number of decisive documents is expected, as is the election of the new Board of Governors. “The Assembly of Parties will without a doubt be a milestone for this young, successful international organization,” states Martin Kreutner, IACA’s Chair and Executive Secretary. Originally an initiative by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Republic of Austria, and many other major international stakeholders, today IACA comprises a constituency of 61 Parties and Signatories from all around the world.
Several countries will be represented by Deputy Heads of State, Ministers, Prosecutor Generals, Heads of Anti-Corruption Authorities, and high-level diplomats. In the course of this important Assembly of Parties, delegates will be given the opportunity to visit the IACA campus in Laxenburg, near Vienna, and become better acquainted with the latest anti-corruption activities it has to offer. In the context of the conference, IACA’s post-graduate academic degree programme, the Master in Anti-Corruption Studies, will be launched. This unique international Master is of an inter-disciplinary nature, combining distance learning with seven twelve-day core modules. The first core module will start in February 2013, attracting an international student body from all sectors of society and all corners of the globe.
