The latest plea for election reform comes from a really interesting and passionate short film made by mega-celebrity Jennifer Lawrence. Here is the scoop from People.com written by ALEXIA FERNANDEZ:
Jennifer Lawrence is taking a stance against corruption in American democracy. The Oscar-winning actress, 28, stars in the short film Unbreaking America by RepresentUs, a leading anti-corruption group, to tackle systemic corruption in U.S. politics. Lawrence serves as a board member for the organization.
“We are witnessing a total, political system failure in America,” the actress began. “If you’re anything like me, you may find yourself constantly overwhelmed by everything that’s wrong with politics,” she continued. “And by politics I’m not talking about Democrats or Republicans, I’m talking about the flaws that exist in our politics system regardless of which party is in power.”
She added, “And I know it’s hard to talk about politics these days but look, the government is ours, we pay for it, so it needs to work for us and right now it doesn’t. And I mean it really doesn’t.”
