Many of the people I talk to or like to speak with feel the same way. There’s really no difference of opinion, we are preaching to the choir. What we need is a voice, and yes, thank God we have Democracy Chronicles. But I also believe that once in a while the occasional, inquisitive alt-right Republican peaks inside for a look at what these “Pinko Commie Tree Huggers” are up to.
And that’s it! That’s why many of us, do what we do. We believe in the cause and that we are making a difference and it is enough to make us carry on. And yes, we mostly live lives in common with the people who are like us. Like attracts like and we live in communities where we feel accepted and affirmed. Over time, we surround ourselves in activities that reflect our true dogmas as well as ideals.
But we need to stretch further, further to a point of consensus among all the American people. We are already there and most don’t know it! You see, there are only two or three companies that control most of the media, especially on television, so in their actions they have only allowed the news and ideas that reflect their goals and ambitions to be known.
Ride through the south, even most of America, the channel is still today stuck on FOX News. Even in the McDonald’s that I visited in the Ozarks while on vacation with my family, they had FOX News on. What’s the deal? My family had to watch my face turn beet red when I realized the continued blasphemy of the air waves was still being aired in public!
The point of the matter is the so-called conservative right media is extremely busy trying to brainwash our culture, and too often is successful. While we sometimes give up sharing our values with others, when we step into our mutual places and bask in our Nirvana of a mutual appreciation society, don’t feel any shame, because we all need a recharge. There are already more of us than there are of them – they’re just very busy trying to make you and I believe that truth is a lie!

Great article,as always. And fascinating b/c you explain how it feels living in an environment I have rarely even visited and can’t imagine living in. In Manhattan/NYC I’ve never — but never EVER — seen Fox on in a public place except …in the windows of their HQ in Midtown. :-)
Keep up the good work, good writing, and do your best to stay sane – you’re a bigger man than I am to deal with that garbage as the substrate you live in, rather than (for me) something far away.
