In an effort to strengthen electoral rectitude, the Clough Center for the Study of Constitutional Democracy at Boston College held a two day international conference where issues of transparency, financing campaigns and the electoral integrity of existing constitutional structures.
The conference was organized by Daniela Rosa, a Visiting Scholar at Boston College Law School and Director of Latin America Constitutionalism Programs at Clough Center. The event was also presented by Vlad Purdue, Director of the Clough Center for the Study of Constitutional Democracy and professor of Constitutional Law at Boston College. Other speakers and expert participants came from nine countries making the conference especially worth viewing.
Below is just the first segment of the conference, titled “How to Improve Electoral Integrity and Avoid Electoral Failures in Latin America”, lasts about an hour and twenty minutes. The video features the well-published and highly respected Pippa Norris. Her current work includes being the ARC Laureate Fellow and Professor of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney, the Paul F. McGuire Lecturer in Comparative Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and the Director of the Electoral Integrity Project established in 2012 at Sydney and Harvard universities. She also serves as Vice-President of the American Political Science Association. Not too bad.
