Violence mars eve of key Libya election
AFP – An election worker was killed in Libya on Friday when gunmen fired on a helicopter transporting material for Saturday’s first national election since Moamer Kadhafi was overthrown, an official said. Armed men had earlier forced key oil facilities in the restive east to shut down in protest.

AFP – Residents of Sirte are gearing up to vote in Saturday’s Libyan election, hoping it will help bring prosperity to the war-battered hometown of slain dictator Moamer Kadhafi and erase his legacy. “This is the first step towards security and prosperity of Sirte in the new Libya,” said Khalid Saad.
