The Massachusetts Green Party is only party outside Republicans and Democrats with state primary
From the Ballot Access News article, ‘Massachusetts Green Party Presidential Primary Will List Five Candidates’ by Richard Winger:
The Massachusetts Green Party presidential primary on March 1 will list five candidates: Darryl Cherney, Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza Curry, William Kreml, Kent Mesplay, and Jill Stein. See this post at Green Party Watch. The party tells the Massachusetts Secretary of State which names to list. No petition or fee is required.
In 2012, the Massachusetts Green Party presidential primary had three candidates: Kent Mesplay, Harley Mikkelson, and Jill Stein. In 2008, the Massachusetts Green primary had six candidates: Jared Ball, Elaine Brown, Cynthia McKinney, Kent Mesplay, Ralph Nader, and Kat Swift. In 2004, that primary had four candidates: David Cobb, Paul Glover, Kent Mesplay, and Lorna Salzman.
From the Green Party Watch:
The Massachusetts Green-Rainbow Party presidential primary ballot will include all five current or likely candidates for the Green nomination: Darryl Cherney, Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza Curry, William Kreml, Kent Mesplay, and Jill Stein. The ballot order will be determined by a random drawing on Tuesday.
The Green-Rainbow Party is the only party other than the Democrats and Republicans that will have a Massachusetts presidential primary. The voting takes place on March 1. Stein won the 2012 Massachusetts Green-Rainbow primary over Mesplay and Harley Mikkelson.
