Jarrod Williams is putting forward a democratic socialist platform as the Nevada Socialist Party’s candidate
Ballot Access News had this information on his campaign:
The Socialist Party has a nominee for U.S. Senate from Nevada, Jarrod Williams. He is on the ballot as an independent, because the independent petition for statewide office in Nevada other than president is 250 signatures, whereas the petition for a newly-qualifying party this year was 5,431 signatures. He is the first Socialist Party nominee to be on the ballot for a partisan office in Nevada since 1920. Here is the Socialist Party’s web page, listing its 2016 candidates.
From the Jarrod Williams campaign website:
I hope to put in place progressive policies to help advance the cause of Human civilization, such as Free Universal Health Care, Free Tuition for Higher Education, a Guaranteed Basic Income, bring true Equality for Women, Minorities, and the LGBTQ Community, create an Open Border Policy with an Easy Path to Citizenship for Immigrants, and give Women true Reproductive Freedom; amongst so many other things.
Democratic Socialism is a political and economic system with freedom and equality for all, so that people may develop to their fullest potential in harmony with others. I am committed to full freedom of speech, assembly, press, and religion, and to a multi-party system. I am dedicated to the abolition of male supremacy and class society, and to the elimination of all forms of oppression, including those based on national origin, age, sexual preference, and disabling conditions.
