According to The Daily Freeman:
Republican Elections Commissioner Rodney Gaebel said Wednesday that the county must, among other things, provide Spanish-speaking poll watchers on Election Day.
“We need to make available all the things we make available in English in Spanish also for all the poll sites and election districts. We did that for the November election and will continue to do it,” Gaebel said.
Approximately 8.6 percent of registered voters in Sullivan county speak Spanish at home, a reflection of the nationwide significance of the Hispanic vote. Latino voters played an important role in the 2012 elections, with exit polls estimating that 70 percent of the voting population turned out in favor of Obama last November. Hispanicvoters2012.com predicts that “every month for the next two decades, 50,000 Hispanics will turn 18.”
