The Occupy movement conducted a presidential exit poll, in New York, in the 2012 election. They used four voting systems: Plurality, Approval, Score and IRV. Though the Democrat (Obama) won in all four voting systems, the Green’s Jill Stein total in Approval and Score was barely below that of Obama proving that the Green Party is indeed widely popular in America.
The Occupy presidential exit-poll, among the presidential candidates on the N.Y. ballot, accomplishes and shows more than other polls by alternative voting systems because it was purposely conducted among a typical population. They chose a specific district with a typical population composition. Also, a concerted effort was made to use a variety of alternative voting systems uncommon in most polls.
The fact that the Democrat won, by all four voting-systems, reflects the fact that people haven’t heard of the alternatives available to them or have been convinced by the mass media regarding “The Two Choices”. But the Occupy poll shows something important and it confirms what other polls have been showing too: the Republican consistently came in last, as is usual. That fact has great relevance for educated voting in our current Plurality voting system.
If the Greens (Green Party of the United States) are more popular than the Republicans, if the Green will out poll the Republican, then THERE’S NO NEED TO HOLD OUR NOSE AND VOTE FOR THE CORRUPT LESSER-EVIL DEMOCRAT!!! As I’ve long been claiming, the constant media claim that the Democrat and the Republican are “The Two Choices” is disinformation.
I’ve been pointing out that the GPUS platform offers what people say they want, and offers to fix the things that everyone is complaining about, such as taxes on the working poor, and a tax system imposed unduly heavily on the ordinary population, as opposed to the wealthy. The fact that the Republican came in last, in the Occupy presidential poll, among a typical population, further confirms that the Green Party can out-poll the Republican, thereby freeing us of any need to hold our nose and vote for the Democrat, whose essentially Republican policies we don’t really like.
Green Outperforming Republican Platform
As I’ve said, Plurality’s strategy is to combine votes on the most winnable acceptable candidate. For progressives (people who want policies that are more pro-human, humane, ethical, and candidates who are not corrupt and a bit more honest), that candidate is obviously the Green Party nominee in any election. So, I repeat that the replacement of Republocrat government with Green government could begin in 2014, and be complete in 2016. So, let’s vote honestly, for what we actually want, in 2014. Dump the Democrats.
And what if some people vote Green, and some others continue giving it away to the Democrat, and what if the latter thereby split the vote, letting the Republican win? First of all, let’s be clear about who split the vote. The honest voters didn’t split the vote. The dishonest giveaway voters deserve credit for splitting the vote. And if we progressives can demonstrate our ability and willingness to dump the Democrat, even when others insist on splitting the vote in favor of the Democrat, thereby electing the Republican, then we’ll have showed that our resigned, pessimistic, cowed Democrat-giveaway vote doesn’t pay anymore. We’ll have made it clear to everyone that it’s time for them to start voting honestly too.
