AFP – The Supreme Court handed an advantage to the Democrats and President Barack Obama on Tuesday in ruling that the key battleground state of Ohio cannot limit early voting in the final days before the election. The decision comes two weeks after a judge ordered state officials not to enforce a controversial ruling.

The US Supreme Court on Tuesday declined an invitation to enter a raging election-year legal dispute in Ohio over the state legislature’s decision to eliminate one form of early voting for most voters in the three days prior to the Nov. 6 election. The action lets stand earlier decisions.

After two wins in Federal Court, Republicans had appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to allow Secretary of State to not include the final 3 days before the election as part of the early voting plan in Ohio. The court gave a one sentence ruling without dissent.
