On America Super Monopolies

With the windows closed, the drapes pulled shut and no interaction with the outside world, the powers that be, namely, corporate America and the oligarchs reign supreme and go unchecked. Trump is the ringleader of this self-centered gang. Our government isn’t balanced or operating with the checks and balances that our Founding Fathers agreed on and that they died and lived for! Do you think this political/economic situation encourages entrepreneurship, start ups, economic growth, innovation, or balanced prosperity?

The rising cost of healthcare alone is a strong brake on start ups. No wonder we have this crap gig economy, The only ones who prosper are stock holders. Are we going to send millions of Americans into retirement without Social Security, healthcare or especially pensions? Or the resources to afford financial independence? Hey conservatives, are you only concerned with tax breaks to the wealthy at our expense?

I can recognize a state of mind that lacks common sense or clear accurate accounting of what benefits our country’s way of life as well as its collective ideals. The modern businessman only seeks profit at the expense of everything else. Nothing is sacred. Red states profiting off blue states’ federally paid taxes and the blue states lack of representation or even acknowledgement alongside constant jabs and hostility from the President and his allies isn’t reaching across the isle, it is the opposite. Reaching across the isle for a win for both sides was one of the best examples of President Joe Biden’s abilities. He was good at it.

The loss of respectability and trust internationally has made America a pariah and now we seem willing to sponsor a war on Venezuela while attaching our allegiance only to autoritarian nations. We are leaving long-standing NATO Allies in the lurch while further distancing our nation from the majority of the United Nations. Only the ever-profiting oligarchs benefit – exploiting our natural resources and those of other countries for their benefit at our collective loss. We are jumpstarting a new era of imperialism at our own national expense in Ukraine, Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, Argentina and Iran. When will it stop?

What about fixing healthcare or working on improving education, or basic infrastructure? It takes people working paying taxes to work off our national debt, not destroying the economy while giving the rich unneeded tax breaks. Amazon is poised to lay off nearly a million workers and they single handedly wiped out most retail stores in our country. What has Uber done for workers, especially cab drivers?

I see nothing of democratic values going forward in this administration but only an increase in violence, thievery and imperialism. Can this nation endure under this cloud of exploitation? It looks like the Heritage Foundation has finally got their agenda passed and come to fruition. Not an agenda I would endorse but it is a clear agendaa anyhow. It is a testament on how to get what you want while destroying everything around you. All this crap is a result of the Heritage Foundation and Republican dogma of deregulation. Their crowning jewel is we are not even enforcing the Sherman Antitrust Act meant to stop monopolies. Thanks to thier efforts, the time of the Super Monopolies and the oligarchy has come.

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.
