The Political undertones of the trade war between the USA and China are hinged on which will prevail, democracy or dictatorship. In effect, for some time now, the US has been engaged in a serious trade war with China. This war took important proportions following Donald Trumps election as US President. The world sees the two biggest economies at daggers drawn, with the US doing so in order to remain as the worlds number 1 economy and China engaging as a challenger. However, underneath it all, a more serious war is going on, one that has more serious implications for the US. Political undertones of the trade war or underlying this struggle for economic hegemony is a serious battle between democracy and dictatorship over which one will be stronger. The outcome of this war will determine the fate of the free world. Democracy Digest had a really good article on this perspective. It reads:

“China’s victory would bring about a world in which democracies are enfeebled and the largest autocracy is emboldened,” he writes for The Atlantic:
The dismal science of economics has much to say about economic relations between China and the United States. But the worst possible legacy of this trade conflict would not necessarily be dismal for reasons familiar to places such as the Council of Economic Advisers. It would be dismal because it makes the world safer for China’s authoritarianism and more dangerous for elected leaders who dare to challenge its malign behavior. RTWT
