Trump has tagged three potential primary challengers as “stooges”. Popping balloons is no strange thing to President Donald Trump. In the run up to the 2020 election Trump will be facing challengers in the Republican primaries and he is already using tags for potential contenders, three of whom he has addressed as “three stooges”.
President Trump tweeted mocking former Reps. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) and Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) as well as former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld (R), labeling them as “three stooges”. “Walsh and Weld have announced GOP primary campaigns against Trump in 2020, while Sanford has said he is considering one as well”.
However, Trump thinks that because he has higher approval ratings, up to 94% according to him, even though its unclear from which poll, no one should be running against him. According to Brett Samuels in an article in The Hill,
“all three men and any other prospective challengers [however] face slim odds to unseat Trump on the 2020 ticket. The president has the financial backing of the Republican National Committee, and he has solidified support within the GOP, consistently polling close to 90 percent among Republicans in Gallup surveys.”
