Seven days without charge: a Sudan detainee’s story
AFP – Under a neon light in the small interrogation room, Dalia El Roubi’s female interrogator scoffed at her request for a lawyer, saying: “You know, this is a dictatorship,” Roubi alleges. Roubi, 36, spent seven days without charge in the custody of Sudan. Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir on Wednesday said deadly protests over fuel-price increases last month were part of an effort to topple his regime. “After we announced the latest economic measures they said this is a chance to overthrow Ingaz,” he said.
