Trojan War Play Through the Lens of Iraq War

Troy! Troy! Troy!

Greek Tragedy of Economic Proportions

A play by Michael Maiello

AN EXCERPT:

Journalist Kalliste Speaking: I’m having some trouble hearing you, Nestor. But I believe you’ve asked if the Trojan War, as it has come to be called, is truly over. We don’t know the answer to that. I’ll tell you what we do know and that is that Coalition Forces used a Trojan Horse strategy to penetrate the city’s walls. An elite team of commandos, it seems hid themselves within one of their remote controlled flying assassination drones. They then made it appear that the device crashed outside of the walls. When the Trojans emerged to salvage Coalition technology, they inadvertently brought our commandoes in with them and, I’m told, vast numbers of Trojans were killed in their sleep, including King Priam, who some have described as the mad dictator that started this conflict in the first place by, if you’ll recall, sheltering Helen, the stolen wife of Menelaus and the most beautiful woman in the world.
