Harris County USA releases expert discussion in voter ID podcast showing minorities bear cost
Legislators in more than half the states have passed Voter ID laws. Life of the Law, a national podcast produced by a team of investigative reporters and scholars finds these laws disproportionately impact minority voters. Texas Rep Jim Murphy says the state’s voter ID law was passed to ensure, “one vote counts as much as the next.” But a scholar from St. Mary’s Univ says the intent of voter ID law in Texas was to, “prevent minorities from voting.” Minority voters in Houston describe difficulties trying to secure voter IDs to go to the polls.
How will these voter ID laws affect the outcome of minority voting on Super Tuesday and the election of the next President?
