Newspapers said Wednesday that the House of Commons’ vote to delay proposed constituency boundary reforms had, in effect, likely cost the Conservatives the chance of winning the 2015 general election. Liberal Democrats voted with Labour and other opposition parties to scupper the proposals.

British government rift over constituency reforms
British Prime Minister David Cameron’s plans to make parliamentary constituency sizes more equal were defeated on Tuesday when his coalition partners joined forces with the opposition to delay the proposal. Ministers from the Liberal Democrat junior partners voted against a coalition bill.
