I get an email from Brasscheck TV every day. Today they make one of Adam Curtis’ films available called The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom. Adam Curtis is an English award-earning, film maker who made films for the BBC. The Century of Self, and the Power of Nightmares are two other films, also about 1 hour in length. You could also watch each one of these films at the YouTube website.
As a teacher, I, of course, would suggest that you do a Wikipedia search on the life and philosophy of Adam Curtis, and then do a Wikipedia search on each film before you watch it in order to better understand the documentary, and to better articulate to others why each film is so thought provoking about the world we live in. With so many free and educational documentaries and website articles that can be accessed from my computer, I seldom use the basic cable TV that I am paying for.

Part 1: “Fuck You Buddy” – In this episode, Curtis examines the rise of game theory during the Cold War and the way in which it’s mathematical models of human behavior filtered into economic thought.
The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom
The series consists of three one-hour programs which explore the concept and definition of freedom, specifically, “how a simplistic model of human beings as self-seeking, almost robotic, creatures led to today’s idea of freedom.” These videos were taken from archive.org and as such I believe they fall under Creative Commons licensing.
