Women in the 21st century have a larger political role to play if they continue to identify and dismantle the barriers in the way of their political equality. On October 29, 2018, the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School had Alyssa Mastromonaco as guest in an event titled “Women and the Halls of Power”. It is definitely recommended viewing.
Mastromonaco is a co-host at Crooked Media podcast Hysteria, former deputy chief of operations under President Obama and author of New York Times bestselling book, “Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?: And Other Questions You Should Have Answers to When You Work in the White House”.
According to Alyssa Mastromonaco’s biography at the APB speaking agency:
“As the youngest woman ever to be Deputy Chief of Operations at the White House, Alyssa Mastromonaco kept our country running through a government shutdown, natural disasters, national tragedies and history-making events. A key figure in the “Sisterhood of the Administration 44,” she made the presence of women felt and their voices heard – redefining the traditional White House boy’s club culture.”
As the youngest and first ever woman to hold the position of deputy chief of staff, Mastromonaco walked the audience through her journey, including the most pleasant and the most trying times. The discussion was introduced and moderated by Amy Dacey, from the Institute of Politics. The fun and interesting discussion lasted about an hour and twenty minutes. Take a look!
