Writers Wanted

Want to be a part of the international conversation?

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: Writers Wanted!

Great writers wanted now! Democracy Chronicles is the collective product of our international network of over 100 democracy authors, artists, activists, and other contributors. We are looking for people to join our team and submit original content, writing or political artwork to enhance our website about democracy. We are hoping to find writers who can produce engaging opinion writing on a regular basis.

This is unpaid/volunteer but you will be surprised how fun and easy our setup is for you. The setup is: you can work from home and send your articles by email to be evaluated by our editorial board. We are located in New York City but we encourage international applicants who can communicate (in English) online. We currently have a core group of contributors from places as far apart as New York, Taiwan, Sweden and Somalia.

WHAT YOU WRITE

The range of subjects our writers cover is varied as you can see by looking at our front page. We encourage all of our writers to write about the subjects they are passionate about, with the general rule being that the subject relates to democracy, elections or politics. On the left, right, or whatever, we want our writers to have their own perspective on the world. Diversity of opinion is what our writing team is hoping for. Talk about your passion and spread your message.

Our preferred word limit is roughly 800 words and submissions should of publishable quality and entirely your own work. We are looking for original ideas and thinking, not just regurgitation of current media stories.

WHAT YOU GET

Publishing with us gives you an ever-growing international and domestic readership. We aggressively promote the work of our writing team and all of your articles are promoted on our website, our social media, our fan newsletter and across the web. Every writer on DC has their own archive of articles that includes their short biography, headshot, and description.

We are also more than happy to do all we can to help you get ahead as a writer, even helping you apply to other positions. Once you are an established DC writer, we help you with any recommendation letters, phone call recommendations, and school/business applications. Also if you want to apply to your university for school credit for your work at DC, we are more than happy to help! Getting professional advice and career help from a network of like-minded supporters is part and parcel of being on the DC team.

GAINING EXPERIENCE

Beyond submitting writing or political artwork regularly we encourage everyone to get as involved with the website as possible. Do you have additional experience that can benefit our website? Social media, web development, political artwork or outreach experience perhaps? Let us know.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!

So just say hi here:
