More effort needed to encourage young politicians in a system that desperately needs their voice

From the press release, “Millennial Political Leaders to Announce New Initiative to Run Young People for Public Office, 19 Year-Old Mayor to Speak at National Press Club Newsmaker Tues., March 22”:

In 2016, for the first time, more millennials will be eligible to vote than baby boomers. A new national political group, Action for America, will announce a major new initiative aimed at recruiting millennials to run for public office during a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference on Tues., March 22, 10 a.m. in the club’s Lisagor Room.

Laquan D. Austion, the CEO of Action for America, will be on hand to announce the group’s new initiative to get more millennial candidates into the electoral process. Action for America, an affiliate of Run for America, is geared towards working with millennial candidates across the country in this year’s elections. Brandon Paulin, the mayor Indian Head, Md., who was elected last year at the age of 19 as the youngest mayor in Maryland history, will be on hand to discuss his experiences as mayor and as a millennial in public office.
