African American men are disproportionately jailed in American society

I have previously written about the alarming rate at which the U.S. is putting people in prison compared to the rest of the developed world. In this article I will be focusing on the role of African Americans in the national disgrace that is the American correctional system. Oftentimes we are told that the United States is becoming more equal and that more young African Americans are going to college than ever before.
