Amazon Pays Nothing in Taxes, But the Poor Sure Do

The middle class and the poor need the tax breaks, not the Oligarchs at the top. There are property taxes, income taxes, alcohol taxes, license plate taxes, utility taxes, tobacco taxes, gasoline taxes and more. We who are at the bottom of the food chain, who can least afford it, are taxed the most.

As everyone should know by now Amazon pays nothing, zero dollars in federal taxes for 2018. They also made $11,000,000,000 in profit in 2018. Why can’t we, the many, have Bezos’s tax accountants and lobbyists? Wouldn’t that be great if we could just pad the pockets of a few politicians from our vast wealth and save way more in taxes? Doesn’t that sound illegal, unethical and wrong? Well it’s the real truth. They keep saying the trickle down is coming. Just wait, it’s coming.

We all know the truth is we are never going to get ours because those on top are too busy getting theirs. American government is now only concerned with the needs of billionaires, Oligarchs, and professional liars. And do you think they got there by playing by the rules? Hell no. They got there by stealing, lying and conniving! They look out for number one while telling you that you’ll get yours as well! Lie, lie, lie! You never will.

The only way out is to vote in measures like a raise in the top marginal tax rate. We need to bring it back to where it was before Ronald Reagan began lowering it in 1981. America is in multiple crisis and the funds are needed. Bring it back and bring it back now!

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.

This guy makes my think of David Corn at Mother Jones Magazine. Telling it like it is not dancing around the point.

Actually, the poor pay taxes but they get most of it back in refunds. The middle class, however, we are the ones that get stiffed and are the ones left with the tax burden
