Clashes in eastern Saudi kill one, wound three

Rich Kingdom Sees Shiite Protest Over Discrimination and Dictatorship as Many Consider Implication of Moving Arab Spring to Saudi Arabia’s Oil Soaked Nation

“One person was killed and three wounded when security forces exchanged gunfire with “masked men” in Saudi Arabia’s oil-rich east”, the official SPA news agency reported on Friday. “Activists and witnesses said the casualties came when security forces opened fire on a Shiite demonstration in the Qatif district of the kingdom’s Eastern Province.”

Comment:

Aswad Band and 1080 P like this. The shifts in Saudi Arabia are not given equal rights. This has been going on for long now. But the Saudi Govt is blaming Iran for the unrest. The Shiites are 2nd class citizens in Saudia. Its a shame that a country which is sponsoring resolutions in the UN about the human rights violations in Syria is killing its own people ruthlessly, trampling openly on all charters of the UN regarding human rights, a country that does not recognise even the basic right of citizens assembly for a peaceful protest puts on the facade of being a human rights champion.

Where are the great promoters of human rights namely the USA, the EU, the UN and the Arab League? Why don’t they speak about this systematic killing of the already marginalised Shiites or is it that geo political considerations over rule the concerns for human lives and human dignity, which am sure is definitely the case.
