Australia Gets LGBT Political Party

Gay Asia News: A new player has entered the political scene in Australia as the Australian Equality Party fights for equal rights for all the nation’s citizens. The Australian Equality Party (AEP) affirms the fundamental dignity of all Australians regardless

The Australian Equality Party (also AEP) is an Australian political party. The AEP has a platform that promotes equality, fairness and human rights, particularly in relation to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (GLBTIQ) community. The Australian Equality Party was launched on February 2, 2014 at Melbourne’s LGBTIQ Pride March in St Kilda. At that time the AEP released its first suite of policies relating to LGBTIQ people at the parade, including marriage equality, health and wellbeing issues for LGBTIQ people and reform for laws regarding LGBTIQ people’s rights to adoption.

The AEP was officially registered with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEP) on 9 October 2014.
