Where Are The Civil Rights Leaders?

Civil Rights Leaders

The 15th Amendment passed in 1870 giving African-American men the right to vote. In 1920, the 19th Amendment passed that gave women the right to vote. Both movements were led by astoundingly serious civil rights leaders. So where are all the civil rights leaders of today? Your country needs you now more than ever.

All the great civil rights leaders in my generation were assassinated, except I deeply respect and acknowledge what the “Black Lives Matter” group is doing. They are articulate and current to the cause. God bless them. They are the only voices out there that are really in the thick of it and trying to bring justice to the underserved.

I can’t help but watch documentaries on the great civil rights leaders of the ‘60s and reflect. We had a President, JFK, and a US Senator, RFK, fall into that camp of martyrs as well. They fought for the cause and paid the ultimate price!

Are we going to let theses unscrupulous tyrants undo what these great men and women died for? Are we going to let these cowards and racists from the Alt-Right destroy our country and morality? The Republicans are so big on the Constitution and what it meant, but I ask you dear Citizen, have you read the 1st, 15th and 19th Amendments? What are you doing about those?

Oh, just what I thought, you want to pick and choose. You care about your family’s welfare and future but somehow your brown brother doesn’t matter! How would you like it if the Native Americans would have made you their slaves and took all your rights and said, “white man, you’re not going to be allowed to vote and all the dreams, wishes and power of what your vote could entail are denied.” What if the Native Americans started a National Native American League with a mission to destroy your life by throwing you illegally off the voter roles and they plotted constantly to make most of the white people very poor by destroying other means of representation: the unions, your education then finally your health through no or unaffordable health insurance?

We and the minorities have been beat down in this country. We need to help them so they can continue to help us, we are interdependent!! The fact that they are knocking minorities off voter rolls should prove to you that you are being silenced as well.

Minorities and whites want the same things, it’s the greedy 1% that are denying us. So it’s time to act, time to demand an explanation of Kris Kobach and the Republican Party. Why are they doing this treasonous act? We must demand repercussions. Don’t you realize the Russian involvement and Kobach’s Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck Program are violating the 1st, 15th and 19th amendments? These all have to do with free speech but our Republican-controlled Supreme Court has decided to do nothing about it so far except to say the money that they worship is speech. We must demand that our minorities, including our democrat minority, regain the upper hand!

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.
