Artists Support Jailed Russia Punk Band Pussy Riot

Madonna may be saddled with her own share of Russian troubles right now, facing a 10.5 million lawsuit brought by a group of activists offended by the. Protesters took to the streets of New York yesterday to decry the two year prison sentence given by a Russian court to three members of Pussy Riot.

Western artists can and should support their Russian comrades. But the support received by Pussy Riot is sadly an aberration. There’s been plenty of talk about Russian feminist punk collective Pussy Riot in the global media over the past few weeks, but the neon-ski-mask-donning.
