Topless female demonstrators shouted at Russian President Vladimir Putin as he toured an industrial fair with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Monday, media reported. Putin and Merkel were taking in a presentation of a new car model at the Volkswagen stand by the company’s chief executive, Martin Winterkorn.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to “give a chance” to non-governmental organisations which she described as a “motor of innovation”. The two leaders were opening the Hanover industrial trade fair, with dozens of demonstrators protesting against Putin.
