AFP – India’s opposition insisted Wednesday that Premier Manmohan Singh could not “escape responsibility” over alleged corruption in the allocation of coal blocks that the national auditor says cost the treasury billions of dollars.
Police have named one of India’s leading industrialists as a suspect in a high-profile corruption inquiry into the alleged illegal allocation of coal blocks. Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of conglomerate Aditya Birla Group, was accused criminally.
