Julian Assange Is Gone! What Has He Done?

Julian Assange Is Gone!

Sweet Jesus, Julian Assange is gone. Where is he? What has he done? He was a journalist, an asylum seeker, now a political prisoner to the UK and ultimately to the US. What about the first amendment? Does that not count anymore?

Are we willing to sell our freedoms to our favorite cult of personality? These freedoms should be immovable, steadfast, and without compromise. These freedoms are what make a democracy, a civilization and a secure future. Take them away and you have fascism for the moment.

We all want the eternal, the true, the perfect but are we willing to pay the price? The price is honesty, integrity and a good a reputation. And so our nation can be if this is what we demand. But if we let racism, homophobia, and greed get in the way we will have nothing but death, alienation and disaster.

Julian has been arrested for reporting war crimes, while the criminals walk free. This is an outrage. Our democracy is upside down. We can’t allow our nation to continue down this path. Even President Obama knew going after Julian Assange would be wrong.

We can’t allow this tyrant in the White House or his Administration to continue down this path. Trump mentioned he wanted to curtail our First Amendment rights when he ran for office. Why? Because has too much to hide and doesn’t like journalists asking questions. We can stand with Julian or we are going to let the powers that be strip our freedoms and our world away from us. You be the judge. And it’s time for you to decide.

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.

I know Julian isn’t actually missing . I used artistic license to draw attention to the fact that a very important journalist has been arrested and silenced over doing his job. I believe this illegal arrest has more to do with silencing Julian and anybody else who would defy The American Empire!!!!!

Jullian’s remit is not just publicizing war crimes, though he did that. His actions subsequent to 2011 (and before, but we didn’t notice) serve more his own towering narcissism than democracy or freedom. The original WikiLeaks were coincident with his lifelong self-aggrandizement rather than emblematic of a freedom warrior. He attended the same school (Univ. of Melbourne) for the same years as I did. I didn’t know him but knew people who knew him.
I make the above judgement based only on his public actions rather than any private knowledge of him (which is non-existent).

Wow how cool , again my most pressing reason for writing the article is we are rated 49th in the world for free press , we have been going after whistle blowers as a nation instead of protecting them ! I believe are country is complicit in the illegal arrest of Julian Assange and we have allies “ Saudi Arabia “ who are guilty of assassinating journalists ! Thank you , David for commenting your opinion is always appreciated and I love your insights as usual !
