Putting My Everything Back Into My Hometown: Merrick

My Hometown: Merrick

It’s a funny story really…

For over 80 years, this building has stood on the corner of Merrick Ave. It was owned by local Joe for 50 years, and was sold to my Dad in ’96. From there it changed hands up until a few months ago when it was known as Menna’s Main Event. Although all of its owners treated the community to good times, great drinks and spirits, many said this spot saw its hay day – it was a lost cause.

It is with great pride, joy and humility I say I have taken over the building and will bring to Merrick, New York its first and only craft beer/bourbon bar!

For those who know me well, or those who were my regulars or even visited me at work once, you know bartending is a passion of mine, shaping me in ways I can only express in the care and love I put into each one of your drinks and experiences. To own my own place and bring my vision to life is such an honor. I am still trying to wrap my head around it!

With an emphasis on craft beer and craft cocktails, I look forward to bringing my experience in mixology and hospitality to my hometown, my friends, family and loved ones.

This means everything to me. From the breadth of my experiences in the industry, I can’t wait to treat my community to a unique experience and quality product.

I literally grew up in this building! It is absolutely wild to me to be the one to reinvigorate life into this staple of the community. I am putting my everything into this spot. I know once you all see what I have done with the spot, you will see how much “everything” I have really is, and hope you will love it half as much as I.

I couldn’t have done this without the love and support of my friends and family. Also, those who I have had the pleasure of working alongside and trained under. You have given me the wisdom and strength to live my dream. I hope to make you proud. I love you all. Thank you for this opportunity.

So please follow our IG www.instagram.com/bourbon_and_brews(@bourbon_and_brews) and our Facebook page Bourbon & Brews for updates on renovations, menu items, a chance to enter our Cocktail Competition, and for a select 100 people, the password to our “Speak Easy Grand Opening.” You can’t get into our first night open without it! So follow, like and share!

Thank you Merrick!! Look forward to having a pint with you! Cheers!
