At Democracy Chronicles, the goal of increasing voter turnout is considered very important.  All Americans who wish to vote should be able to do so easily.  In some states recently, voter ID laws have been changed requiring a voter to show identification to vote.  While this is on the surface a minor issue, it turns out that the effect of such legislation is to decrease voter turnout among certain groups, particularly the poor and often minorities.   At this website, we take the position that all Americans should be registered to vote, without exception, and with urgency.  The article below is about this very issue and the controversy surrounding it in Mississippi.   We love to hear readers thoughts so read on and get back to us with your thoughts! Mississippi Voter ID
