Japan government-elect eyes $118 bln spending plan

AFP – Japan’s incoming conservative government said on Wednesday it would launch a huge spending package worth about $118 billion aimed at injecting life into the nation’s limp economy. The Liberal Democratic Party led by hawkish Shinzo Abe will ditch the current overdraft limit so it can pay for the whopping cost. Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and its ally, the New Komeito Party, announced on Tuesday that they’ll form a coalition government on Dec. 26. Head of the LDP, the incoming prime minister Shinzo Abe, and the New Komeito Party leader Natsuo Yamaguchi have started talks on the line-up of the new government.
