The New York Immigration Coalition and interfaith groups from around the New York City area held a vigil and Jummah Prayer for Immigrant Communities. The event attended by around 250 people and was represented by faith groups, New York City council members and those working for immigration rights and freedom. After the vigil and prayer, the group formed a human chain around the NYC Federal Building where the Department of Immigration is located.

Interfaith Groups Pray For Immigrants

Leading the event were three groups:

  • The New York Immigration Coalition
  • Majlis Al Shura: The Islamic Leadership Council of Greater NY
  • The Inter-Faith Clergy of New York City

They came together to stand in solidarity with their Muslim and immigrant brothers and sisters. Together, they will push back against any attacks from the Trump Administration. Muslims are our neighbors, our fellow New Yorkers, our fellow Americans and we vow to support them.
